The New Covenant of Mayors on climate and energy and its progressive extension to all five continents encompasses a number of those topics while providing the framework for collaboration between all political levels.

The Municipality of Bornova, located in Izmir metropolitain area, the third largest city of the country, is one of the oldest, but also dynamic and young populated local authorities of Turkey. Bornova joined our network in 2011 and is active in our Board of Directors since 2013. The city’s Sustainable Energy Action Plan has been completed in 2013 with a 25% percent CO2 emission reductions target. Bornova, one of our six member cities in Turkey, was the first city in the country to participate in the ENGAGE campaign.
